Pink or Blue?

Pink or Blue?

The classic question: Is Sleeping Beauty’s dress pink or blue?

I’m actually partial to her peasant wear as Briar Rose, but I heard an interesting tale about Aurora’s famous vestments yesterday from a children’s librarian. She said that the famous fight scene between Flora and Merriweather was based on an actual dispute between the animators working on the film; that Walt Disney thought it was entertaining enough that he wanted to capture the humor of the bickering.

Anyone else heard this? I’ve been combing the web looking for substantiation but haven’t found it just yet, although I’ve read a lot of other interesting pieces about the movie. This is one of the most artistic of the films, thanks to Eyvind Earle, the background artist. Earle passed away in 2000–his website is worth a visit.
